I ordered both sizes of this sweater as my chest is 38, as I said right between them. I have been agonizing over which one to keep.

They both look good. I love this sweater. I think the color is perfect. Alas that is not available. I am 5'6 and weight about pounds, with broad shoulders and an athletic build. If that helps someone, good. Haven't experienced pilling, but most wool pills. Hoping it's not too bad. There are little sweater shaver's to deal with that! This is just what i hoped it would be. Cozy, not too thick, not too thin, great shape open or buttoned.

Inly comment is i am a tall, size 12 and i ordered an XL. Its perfect, but if anyone with a larger middle section, it would be too small. Same - plus sizes - I would buy this is a minute. Add me to this list. I'd love to buy it if you had a true XL. A plus size option would be nice. Yeah it was funny. Allison Cesaro Web Producer posted 11 months ago. I'm concerned about what I call lack of responsiveness- the company should respond in a public way for all to see.

At this price point - the company should respond Perhaps they just got overwhelmed with the response so I'll wait. Tortuga posted 2 years ago. Hi Kathy, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the Black Sheep Wrap, and apologies for the delay in reaching out. Natural wool products have the tendency to pill, due to the nature of these fibers. Unfortunately, anything that is loosely spun or has soft fibers sticking out are subject to pill.

The black sheep wrap is no exception. However, wool pilling usually resolves itself over time, as the loose fibers work themselves out and break free from the garment. In addition, we recommend storing your wrap in a cedar chest so that it remains moth free, as raw wool is a Thanksgiving feast for these critters.

I hope this information is somewhat helpful. Did you have more questions about your experience? We'd be happy to help. Write to us at info betabrand. Or include a little sachet of lavender or a cedar block. Repeatedly warning "moths will love to feast on this sweater! I had the same experience with mine. Wish it was made in the USA I had my credit card out; unfortunately, it seems that larger sizes for us bigger beautiful women are not available.

Think about it, okay? You'd probably make a lot more sales by including this large segment of the population. Would want this if it came in a larger size. I wish it came in a larger size like 2x. I would buy two if you made them. Totally ready to give you my money for this sweater. But, alas, you do not want money from plus-sized people.

I had my credit card out! It's really a shame that a large percentage of consumers are left out. Customer Service posted 2 years ago. This is Alexander here with Betabrand Customer Service! Thanks so much for commenting and sharing your feedback, it's awesome. I'd love to address some concerns that I'm seeing in this thread and feedback I'm hearing here at the office.

Although we call these guys "Black Sheep", a closer look at any of the sheep would reveal their color to be more of a dark brown. You're right in noticing the new batch that we're sourcing from New Zealand is browner than previous ones which have been a gray-ish brown.

However, we've found this wool to be much softer than others. These are made of unprocessed wool, or "raw" wool, so that means each one is a little bit different in coloration than the next. Which leads us to the next common concern: Black sheep wool is much less processed than white wool is. So, just like natural food goes bad faster because critters are more eager to eat it than processed food think whole grain bread compared to twinkies , black sheep wool is more susceptible to moths than white wool.

Moths will eat white wool too - but when yummy natural black wool is available, they go for that first. So I hope this helps explain some of the common issues.

But of course, if anyone has further questions or concerns, please e-mail us at "info betabrand. No, "black sheep" wool is not "less processed" than "white sheep" wool. Actually, sheep come in a bunch of different colors, from white to very dark brown, and many shades between.

White sheep can range in color from a light cream to more of a buttery yellow, depending on the breed of sheep there are literally hundreds of sheep breeds, and each breed can produce individual sheep with different colors of fleece. Anyway, "white" wool can be just as natural and unprocessed as darker brown or "black" wool.

Wool of any color can be more or less processed, depending on what's done to it before and after it is spun into yarn. I could go on and on about this, but in any case--neither "white" nor "black" wool is more likely to be attacked by moths. Cedar chests confer some protection from moths, but airtight plastic containers are even better.

The best way to protect against moths, though, is to wear your wool garments, to air them out regularly, and to clean them thoroughly with a good wool wash before storing.

And the recommendation for cleaning this garment is dry-cleaning only, which may help with the moth problem. Your comments are very helpful and align with my knowledge of wool. Can you address 'scratchiness'? Doesn't this relate to the way wool is spun? For example, merino wool fibers are a lot finer than wool from other breeds of sheep check the chart at this link: This is why merino is so favored by many consumers: And cashmere fibers are even finer - less than 14 microns!

The texture of the fibers matters a lot, too. Merino has a very different texture than blue-faced Leicester BFL wool. Merino fibers are more crimped, whereas the BFL fibers are long and smooth.

Both feel really nice against the skin, IMO, just for different reasons. But even coarser wool fibers can be processed in a way that makes them feel nicer against the skin: In terms of spinning, worsted-spinning means that the fibers have all been combed and carded in such a way that they are all aligned with each other before spinning, so it makes the finished threads and yarns much smoother.

Woollen spinning means that the fibers have not been aligned, so they are more "fluffed up," if that makes sense. Envision the difference between a polarfleece pullover and a windbreaker: Worsted-spun yarn is good for suits and harder-wearing sweaters and socks; woollen-spun yarn is better for making more insulating garments like sweaters. How's that for a super long, nerdy answer to a simple question?
